Former governor of Imo state, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, has berated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over results published after last Saturday election in Imo North, Isiala Mbano and Oru East state constituencies.
Ohakim stated that the result was a rape on the nation’s democracy, adding that if things continued that way, it meant the country’s democracy was under serious threat.
He noted that this threat to the country’s democracy was more dangerous than Boko haram or the Niger Delta Avengers.
Ohakim gave the advice in a statement he issued after the July 23 rerun legislative election in Imo North Senatorial District in Owerri on Wednesday.
“The idea of discountenancing the results entered on the relevant INEC forms must be checked.
“This poses dangerous threat to our democracy even more than Boko Haram and the Niger Delta Avengers,” he said.
“It is important that the relevant agencies of government take steps to do the right things and declare the right candidates, winners, to avert the consequences of an angry people.’’ he said.
