The dream of the Anambra State Government to make the state the biggest producer of rice in Nigeria is gradually coming to reality as government has received a business command to supply three hundred million naira worth of rice to some businessmen.
Commissioner for Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export Mr. Afam Mbanefo made the disclosure at the flag-off of disbursement of input vouchers to farmers under the FADAMA III Additional Financing.
The Commissioner said the development attests to the fact that the state is on course in its efforts to launch itself into the orbit of major rice producers in Nigeria.
He said the implication is that rice farmers must work harder to increase their yield, assuring of state government’s preparedness to give them necessary support to achieve the desired objective.pp
