The Libyan Fatwa House and League of Libyan Scholars called on Thursday for mobilization to confront the French intervention in the country, a day after 13 Defend Benghazi Brigades fighters were killed in airstrikes conducted by French warplanes in Jilidiya district, 60 km east of Ajdabiya.
In a joint statement, both religious bodies regarded the French announcement of the killing of 3 of its troops in Libya as a declaration of war against the Libyan nation and a blatant violation of the Libyan sovereignty.
"This announcement gives the Libyans the right to defend themselves by all legitimate ways," the statement reads, calling for a general mobilization of forces in all over Libya to stop this blatant intervention.
Both bodies also urged people to boycott French goods and called the Libyan people and Islamic countries to cut ties with France.
