. 1. COMPASSION: Compassion is the driving power of love that compels u to act to lift people out of the problems they are in. Compassion is mercy, love, sacrifice and selflessness all in one.
Compassion is what is driving Nnamdi Kanu. It is what made him study Biafra for many years compassion, abandon his claim to the throne of his father and offers himself to be arrested by a lawless authority ( Nig Govt).
Compassion must be backed by Piety (Love for God). One cannot love God and hate people; one cannot love people and hate GOD. That compassion is usually toward the ones you are assigned to and that burden is GOD's package in you , that compassion for people is what compels you to act.
2. VISION: to make great changes you need to see beyond what your burdened people are seeing, you need to see the future God sees. Once you have that picture on your table, you find that you start rallying towards it, and also inspire people to start going there. You cannot be comfortable again with what you see presently.
The vision of a #FreeAfrica is what Zik of Africa saw and challenged all colonial forces and also inspired Kwame Nkrumah to be a great African nationalist
Though #AfricaIsNotYetFree The vision Zik left for us will never die as Visions are sometimes fulfil by later generations, but one day #AfricaShallBeFree.
3. COURAGE: If u must be a great leader u must be extra courageous. A visionary is not one that believes everything he envisions immediately, or has no doubt at all, no fear, but he is the one who has faith that out measures his doubt; he acts confident even in fear and great danger knowing GOD is there to do what he the man cannot do.
Without courage Yuri Gagarin would not have been to space and Neil Armstrong would not't have walked on the moon.
You must also learn how to instill courage in your people as JFK did after many trials by US to launch to space "This nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before the decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the earth."- President John Kennedy May 25 1961.
There are times you face much temptations and trials, doubts and opposition, you almost abandon everything, but do not give up, and success is usually smiling before you at such times though storms are not allowing you to see her.
4. SACRIFICE: To give sth costly to gain many things unquantifiable. A Visionary because of your compassion you do not count it as sacrifice to let away you for all. Your life you realise is a onetime investment that should be invested well into people. You put down your time, you humble yourself, you pass through shameful experiences for them, who may ‘not even be good’ but for love sake you think they are worth more than it.
Nelson Mandela as we all know sacrificed his life for South Africa as he spent 27 years in jail and wouldn't waver in his dream for people.
5. CHARISMA: EVERY great soul must BE INSPIRING. Charisma is the ability to attrct great following and devotion.You must have ability to connect with the most remote of your people. Charisma is that natural expression of the compassion in you, charisma is expressing in convinced words and actions that GOD has chosen you to be the deliverer. When you express charisma, you can turn your opposition into your generals; lift wounded spirits to powerful souls, gain unprecedented people support. It removes pride and you relate with the ill, the poor, the handicapped, the least class of your subjects with equality, without counting your fleeting qualifications, with great desire to encourage, relate with, and inspire them to greatness. it is expressed in your:
(a) Communication Powers: How articulating, how forceful, how commanding, expressive and authoritative do you communicate? How empathically, Inspiring, and none condemning? Also how HONEST are you, can they trust you knowing you are not flawless?
Communication goes beyond words though words are important. Your response to situations, ability to practice your sermons, ability to be calm when everyone is afraid or uncertain, your courage, your BOLDNESS and CONFIDENCE are factors of charisma.
(b) Oratory Is also one of the most powerful tools of Charismatic Leadership except you are into management. Oratory is the abilty to use your mouth to command millions of people effortlessly. Martin Luther King used it to sell his dream to us, Obama used it to deceive millions of people, Adolf Hitler mobilised all Germans worldwide and plunged the whole world into a second war by virtue of oratory, Kanu awoke the Biafran dream to the world years after many considered the great Republic dead, his divine words resurrected Biafra.
Hence, as a Visionary you must not forget to include this great element in your most important factors list.
finally on charisma: What are your gifts? Your talents and gifts are what will make you relevant and powerful to be heard: Your gifts could be writing (China Achebe), Imagination (Napoleon Bonaparte), building vast connections with great people, ability to convince people easily (Hitler), strong Inner resilience (Mandela) etc. Discover them, work tirelessly on improving them then launch them and u will see.
6. UNDERSTANDING. You must have knowledge about your GOD, yourself, and your people thereby understanding your role and how to.
Understanding a matter is the first before trying to solve it. Understanding makes u Think different, Dynamic, Calm, Calculative, Mystical, Radical, Enigmatic etc because it gives u an edge in knowledge far above others hence making u an eagle that leaves the ground for others.
How To Develop Understanding
1. First, believe sincerely that u know nothing, because u don't know anything. lol.
2. Go To GOD in Prayer to enquire and gain insight.
3.Read Books As Often As U Can, as the clue to answers are in books.Remember, the Pages of books are the corridors of Wisdom<4>Be Quicker To Observe, Listen and To Learn Than To Voice Your Opinions. Remember u have two eyes and ears, but one mouth.
Meditate Alone Especially Before You Make A Strategic Decision : It helps u receive inspirations from GOD and also builds great resolve.
Understanding is the key that gives you endless answers, never neglect understanding,understand yourself, people, state, enemies and vision and remember, teamwork will always win.
