AGAIN, FULANI ATTACK TARABA KILLING 13

No fewer than 13 people were reportedly killed on Monday and Thursday by Fulani herdsmen in several communities in Bali and Donga local government areas of Taraba state.

This is coming barely 10 days after 44 people were killed and hundreds of others displaced by Fulani herdsmen in several communities in Gashaka and Bali local government areas of the state.

Confirming the incident to newsmen in Jalingo, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Joseph Kwaji, said two Tiv farmers were attacked and killed while sleeping by suspected Fulani herdsmen at Bornon Kurku village in Bali local government.

On the killings in Donga local government area, Kwaji stated that two Fulanis, who were suspected robbers, were killed around Igo village, prompting other Fulanis to mobilise and attack the village, burning houses in the process but he claimed that no life was lost in the incident.

He however revealed that the command has deployed officers and men to the area to return normalcy, saying investigations are on to bring the perpetrators of the attack to book.

Meanwhile, the Central leader of Tivs in Taraba, Chief Zaki David Gbaa in a phone interview with Journalists in Jalingo disclosed that two people were killed in Bornon Kurku around Kungana area while four others were killed at Anchogo and Tortondo villages, all in Bali local government area.

Chief Gbaa equally disclosed that seven people were killed by the herdsmen on Thursday when they launched an attack on Igo village in Donga local government.

He further disclosed that the attackers burnt eight houses and wounded over nine people who are currently receiving treatment at Santa Maria and General hospital all in Bali town.

He gave the name of those killed in the attack particularly at Bornon Kurku, Aungwan Gobiri and Tortondo villages to include; Myimanga Agbayongo, Memga Temaga, Tyokpega Kaior, Bem Nomsule and Iorkegh Gbatoon among others.
