FUEL PRICE HIKE: STOCKPILE FOODSTUFFS AHEAD OF THE INDEFINITE STRIKE - NLC, TUC

Organised Labour constituted by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) and their civil society allies has issued an ultimatum to the Federal government to revert the new fuel price regime on or before 12 midnight of Tuesday, 17th May or face a nationwide shut down of the economy.
The ultimatum was issued in a joint communique signed by the President of NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba and his TUC counterpart, Bobboi Kaigama as they both asked Nigerians to stock up on foodstuffs as the nationwide shutdown of economic acivities may extend farther should the government decide not to honour its demands.
According to the communique, if the Federal government fails to honour the Organised Labour’s demands, the following actions with effect from Wednesday, May 18, 2016;
– Mobilize to the streets across the country, ordinary and helpless Nigerians to whom they owe the duty of protection;
– Shut down all Banks, Sea and Airports, Government and private offices as well as Markets.
– Commence indefinite nationwide strike action.
– Fight/resist the machinations and cruelties of the neo-liberal forces in the government as part of the process of saving the government from itself and the generality of Nigerians from slavery.
